We have all the curry!

Hey guys,
I (Hannah) just wanted to share a recipe which I found whilst browsing the web last week. Peanut butter chicken curry.
This is the picture from the website, unfortunately I didn't have my camera to hand.

I made this last night and it was delicious, it tasted like I'd been to the take away and the best part is it's effortless and simple to make.
All you need is:
  • 1 large onion peeled and roughly chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic peeled
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp curry paste such as balti or madras
  • 4 tbsp whole nut crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 x 200g can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp sultanas
  • 1 x 400g can coconut
  • about 400g cooked chicken shredded
  • 600ml chicken stock
Literally all you need to do is cook the onions and garlic, add the curry paste, tomato puree and peanut butter. Stir in the stock, tin tomatoes, coconut milk and sultanas. Then add the chicken and heat through for about five minutes before serving. Literally a one pot wonder.

I made a few amendments to my dish by adding some salt and pepper and a teaspoon of medium curry powder, that's the great things about curries you can make them as mild or as spicy as you like them. Whilst I was munching on my curry last night it reminded me of a korma with a slight hint of spicy.

If you are interested in making this dish the recipe is found on the Daily Mail link below:

We have all the dvd's!

Just to clarify this is Hannah blogging today.

Right, on the weekend Anthony and I decided to watch a scary film. We chose Insidious (2010), which has a 6.8 rating on IMDb, I think that's a pretty fair statement. As a horror movie buff this one made me jump quite a bit and played on my mind afterwards. In saying this it wasn't the really messed up bits of the film but this old lady...

Why this scared me? I have no idea! She looks fake, like something you would see in Disneyland Paris' Haunted Mansion. This old woman is one of the first of the sprits, demons, or dead people whatever you want to call them in the film. The film starts off great, jumpy and unpredictable. The main story line is about a little boy who goes into a 'coma' and then all this freaky shizzle starts to go down in their house. In my opinion it was similar to Paranormal activity in the way that the story carried itself. The first half of this film like I say was really good to watch not many horror films these days have a massive fear factor but are just plain silly. Insidious had classic horror film features, such as tension building, bad guys, creepy mysteries and epic music; in fact I haven't heard such scary music in a long time.

As the film went on it just got silly! Apparently sprits get into your body when you have an 'outer body experience'?! There's a scene when they have a sort of... Séance, I never knew that a gas mask was needed for this! The effects are good although not realistic (if that makes any sense) from a graphics viewpoint in my opinion they are pretty good. Comparing these effects to Freddy Kruger (2010) in the blood and general looks of characters, the realistic factor isn't there in Insidious.

I feel like I'm ranting, but all in all if you fancy a good scare one night I think this would be a fantastic option, just be prepared for a little sillyness in the second half of the film. Even though I feel the film had it's down sides, horror films seem to be few and far between lately especially in the coming year and you have to take what you can get. Personally I think that nothing compares to a classic horror film Halloween being on my one of my favourites alongside A nightmare on Elm street. If you are a wimp with scary films I wouldn't reccommend that you watch Insidious as it's a jumpy one and little bit of a mind boggler.
If you do decide to brave it, let me know what you think guys :D

We have ALL the weekends!

It annoys us how the weekend always goes so fast! We make all these nice plans and we hardly ever follow through with them. For example, our plan this weekend was to get up early on Saturday morning and go to Manchester. That's as far as our plan got, which didn't happen. Although this did...

The wine which was suppose to be for a quiet night in turned into...

Drinking too much wine and ending up looking like this at a house party. Serious face, for a serious party!

All in all it was a fun night, we had a laugh after the hassle of actually finding where the party was, more importantly where the host was! After finally getting to a house which had a party going on we got chatting to some friends and randoms. We always think that the unexpected nights out are the best. We actually enjoyed ourselves more that what we thought that we would.

The next day however was not so fun! A splitting headache, a blurry haze of what had happened the night before and wanting to eat everything and anything that could be cooked in a microwave. Our breakfast on Saturday morning was a little less than traditional, half a microwave cheese burger each, micro chips and micro pizza's. (Anthony: "This being the extent of cooking ability!") We have all the food! Even though we felt disgusted it did the trick and our hangover's were cured! It was quite the eureka moment.Who would have thought that greasy food and hangovers go well together(?)

The hunger grew as Saturday went on. This did end in a lovely evening, we went to Frankie and Benny's and had a lovely meal out just the two of us. It was a really tasty meal but the portions are HUGE! Next time we know not to have a starter.

This was such a tasty dish, it was spaghetti with a tomato based sauce with seafood. Hannah is such a sucker for seafood, she loves it! We don't think she will ever get bored of eating it. Lucky for her, she is going out with a fish mongers son!

Anthony after being defeated by his massive double cheese burger! (Anthony: "Oh dear, this must be what pregnancy is like.")

The Sunday turned out to be a rather quiet day. Boring documentaries... relaxing on the couch... toast. We did end up disgracing ourselves further with a trip to Burger King. At one point we were unable to look at ourselves in the mirror. Such slobs we had become. With a final trip back to Anthony's house and a short dose of relaxation, the day seemed through. As mentioned before, the weekends always travel so fast and before we know it, we part ways. Although, we know that the next weekend we spend together will be even better than the last, you never know we might actually stick to the plans originally made :D

We have all the wine!

Anthony's Introduction

Hi There, its looks like we get two introductions in this blog. I bet you are jumping with glee at the moment!
Anyway as the previous post was created by my other half Hannah, we felt that it was only fair that I create my own little introduction. I am Anthony.

There, we’re done.

Hmmf, I guess not. Well, I am the Data Management side of the “Nursing and Data Management”. I will admit, I am the boring one in this relationship. When the girlfriend comes home with a story about a man and a ping pong ball up his bum, the best day I’ve got is “I set up an excel sheet to provide a comparison of income and expenditure, which in turn allows for a further drill down of information and performance.” How awesome is that (!)

Me and Hannah at Halloween. She looks dead... tired.

It’s not all boredom and sleep for me though. I have my interest and opinions. I did karate for a good 7 years, though I don’t go anymore. I enjoy my video games (as does any other man in this world) and I love to mess around with computers in any way possible.

As Hannah will be updating you on such things as music and cooking, I’ll be covering subjects such as gaming and even my development on programming. I’m sure there are a handful people who are actually interested in these subjects somewhere on the internet (!)

Assassins Creed is a particular favourite in the gaming category, but there will be more!

I guess I should put in my New Year’s resolutions like Hannah did just to top off my first post.
1.       Get back to the gym and eat healthier (A classic).
2.      Learn C, C# and C++ like the back of my hand (only basic info at the moment).
3.      Walk More.
4.      Save more money.

My post is a little smaller compared to Hannah’s first post as she explained everything pretty much first. She is the talker in this relationship. When I talk, even I zone out.

Be kind it's my first entry...

As I am new to this whole blogging thing I thought I would start by introducing myself. My names Hannah, twenty one years young and enjoying my life. I have been with my lovely boyfriend for nearly nine months now and it has by far been the best nine months of my life. There is some debate of the offical date when we started our relationship as it was late at night, niether of us remember if it was after midnight. We have settled on the 28th of April as we didn't want to clash with the royal wedding.

I am a newly qualified nurse, I gained my Nursing Diploma in July 2011 and I love my job (even if I do moan about going to work sometimes)! I love horror films along with my Sega Megadrive and Nintendo 64, I'm a nerd at heart just not an up-to-date one. I have a recent obsession with the Moomin's I really can't get enough of them. Anthony bought me a Moomin cookbook for Christmas and I've hardly put it down since it was opened. Cooking like the Moomin's really should be safed as a treat though as most of the food within it contains loads and loads of cream!

Along with my career and my nerdy obsessions, like any girl I enjoy shopping, I love a good bargain. I have fantastic friends and just generally enjoying my life. As it's still new year-ish I have some goals I would like to achieve before 2012 is over (if the world doesn't come to an end).
1) Move out of my parents house
2) Try to get another job (I'm a part-timer at the moment)
3) Book a holiday, somewhere sunny would be lovely
4) Buy a new car, as much as I love the Betty (my Renault Clio) she is getting a little old
5) Like any girl I'd like to try and lose a few pounds
6) Get back into the routine of swimming at least two times a week
I should be able to manage this if I stay focused, they say getting started is the hardest part and I totally agree. Compared to mastering a Rubix cube and my third year of university this should be easy. We'll see..
